Today, I saw this tutorial video about making cartoon animations.(link)
You will need:
1. Adobe Photoshop
2. Adobe After Effect
This is a really helpful tutorial that you can build any cartoon characters you want and animate them.
I don't have an After Effect software currently, so I couldn't practice doing it. But I summarize some tips so that I won't forget in the future.
1. Create a character with seperate layers
By using Adobe Photoshop, you will be able to create a cartoon character simply using the brush tool, and remember to draw each body parts separately, then save it as a .PSD file.
2. Import & Parent the files
Secondly, import the .PSD file into Adobe After Effect, and parent the body parts with the main body structure, except the legs(because it has to be moving in order to walk).
3. Set key frames to create animations
By using the key frame tool, creating an animation is so easy. Rotate and move the character in frames and play it as you edit.
4. Using different emotions
You can also draw some other elements such as a smiling face, a sad face, or an angry face, determining changing the appearance of the mouth and the eyes.
5. Render the project
Simply render the project and you get your finished animation!!
